Abilities Discovered will not only will put your child on the path to gainful employment, but we’ll give your child a competitive advantage with a CUSTOMIZED CAREER PLAN that incorporates your child’s unique interests and abilities.  Abilities Discovered ensures that you’re not alone in this overwhelming transitional stage in life.  We don't do traditional Job Training; we explore career and college options.  This is done using "hands-on" unique ways and unconventional methods to assess, and bring out your child’s talents and abilities.  Does your child have a keen interest in math, art, music, visual/spatial abilities, engineering, computer programming, writing or is just generally creative?  Abilities Discovered will show you how to tap into your child’s unique gifts and talents, which will make your child more confident and stand out to prospective employers.  The services Abilities Discovered offers will set your child up for job success and reduce stress during the decisive transitional teenager years.  

Situational Assessment

"Hands-on” activities used for behavioral analysis.  No standardized testing! This will observe, measure, and assess strengths and disability-related limitations.  Career assessment includes recommendations on appropriate career paths for your child to take

Volunteer Job and Internship Placements 

If your child isn't quite job-ready; consider placing them into a volunteer position to develop transferable skills that will give them a competitive edge for their next job interview. Specific volunteer job and internship placement includes direct placement , “mock”  job interview sessions practicing real-life interviews, and  a list of local referrals of potential volunteer jobs and internships
 

Labor Market Survey

This report includes extensive research on the economy and a 10-year job forecast including wages and growth in your child’s (field(s) of interest.


​Counseling-College Planning

Discussion of interests, skills, abilities and limitations your child may have.  ADA recommendations for on-the job accommodations for employers to implement. Other topics includes general concerns, colleges & vocational training programs, or supported employment options for you to consider.
